L140 Recommended Build Paths

Stage 1

Street up to approximately 600hp & light duty track applications

- 9310 Transfer Gears

- Overdrive gears, if highway driven

- Retaining Plate (OEM Midplate)

- Kevlar clutch (street), Ceramic clutch (track)


Stage 2

Street up to approximately 1000hp & heavy duty track applications

Stage 1 items, plus:

- 6061 Midplate

- LSD upgrade


Stage 3

All applications up to approximately 2000hp

Stage 2 items, plus:

- 9310 Gearbox internals

Replacement gears & shafts in 9310 alloy with coarser tooth counts and optimized for strength

- Racing clutch

Ceramic with standard diaphragm to 1200hp; heavy duty diaphragm to 1500hp.  Carbon disc clutch beyond 1500hp


Stage 4

All applications beyond 2000hp

Stage 3 items, plus:

- Gearbox internals in Aerospace alloy

- Tilton-based 4 plate Carbon clutch

Horsepower guidelines listed above are rough approximations based on experience. Vehicle weight, application, traction and tire choice each have a significant impact on clutch and gearbox durability
